Biography

Shane Bushman holds a Masters of Physical Therapy and is a Board-Certified Specialist in Orthopedics with an additional specialty practice in Spine and Strength athlete rehabiliatation. Shane earned his Bachelor of Science degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude, from the Columbus State University’s Exercise Science Program in 2004. Shane earned his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Dec. 2007 and began practicing in outpatient orthopedics in Savannah, GA immediately after graduating and licensure.

Shane has spent his career working with a wide array of patients that want to maximize their potential and quality of life, from high-level strength athletes, runners, or simply individuals who want the highest quality active life. Shane is passionate about helping motivated chronic back pain patients return to a high-quality life avoiding unnecessary injections, pain medications, and surgeries. As a former competitive powerlifter and strength athlete Shane combines his knowledge of strength sports with his physical therapy knowledge to maximize performance with strength sports athletes. By utilizing the most up and evidence-based approaches to the treatment he is able to deliver optimal lasting results while minimizing downtime for patients. Shane believes in a patient centered approach using hands on therapy, customized programs in a fun and engaging environment. Shane loves to ensure all the patients are in the optimal environment for recovery, always bring positive energy and laughs throughout the clinic.

While practicing full time Shane advanced his manual therapy practice through advanced course work in Maitland, Mulligan manual therapy techniques. His passion for treating the most challenging back and neck pain patients led him to get certified in McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment and take advanced course work with Spine Bio-mechanist Dr. Stuart McGill. Shane has taken other advanced course work for various orthopedics and running specialties and continues to expand his knowledge base with advanced coursework. Additionally, he is an active member in the orthopedic and private practice sections of the American Physical Therapy Association

Shane has practiced outpatient orthopedics in Savannah, GA, Asheville, NC before setting roots in Florence SC. After many years of Hospital-based outpatient orthopedics, he wanted to join a company that was as dedicated to health/ fitness and a patient-centered approach as he was. This led him to join ProMotion Rehab and Sports Medicine in Jan 2020. Shane later became Director of the Florence location in Oct of 2020 and then Partner in 2021

Outside of his professional life Shane enjoys spending time with family and friends in the outdoor hiking, camping and fishing. Shane was a competitive powerlifter and strength athlete for over a decade and since retiring has channeled his physical endeavors to running having completed race distances from 5k to half-marathon.
