Biography
A Florence, SC native, DeLeon credits his professional and personal achievements to the values he learned from his family, former educators, coaches and community members while growing up in the palmetto state. After graduating from Wilson High School in 1998, DeLeon was awarded an Athletic Scholarship to attend Morehouse College. His introduction to Physical Therapy came during his sophomore year as a result of a football season ending shoulder injury, subsequent surgery, and successful rehabilitation. It was this first-hand experience as a patient, that set the course for what would become his professional career. He credits the skill and dedication of the medical staff and particularly his physical therapist for helping him return to football. DeLeon earned a BS in Biology from Morehouse in 2002 and his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Georgia State University in 2005. DeLeon spent the first six years of his professional practice in Orthopedics where he specialized in helping people regain their quality of life and returning to the activities they enjoy through conservative treatment of musculoskeletal impairments and post-operative care after surgical intervention. DeLeon spent the next 7 years helping high school, college, and professional level athletes return to sport after injury as a part of a sports medicine team of Surgeons, Physical Therapists, and Athletic Trainers providing care for several professional sports franchises in Atlanta, Georgia. Since returning to Florence in 2018, DeLeon has continued to use and build upon his experience and knowledge in the areas of orthopedics and sports medicine to provide care that is hands on, evidence based and patient centered to the community he calls home.
