Paying for Physical Therapy: Insurance, Referrals and Self-Pay Options

Using Insurance?

We take most major plans.  For specific insurance requests, please contact us as insurance plans are regularly changed, updated and added.

As a courtesy to our patients, we will verify your health benefits prior to your arrival to determine if there will be a copay, deductible, or coinsurance for physical therapy services.

No Referral Required!

Did you know you can start physical therapy without a referral?
For most insurance plans in South Carolina, you can see a physical therapist directly—no doctor’s referral needed.

Starting with physical therapy is often the most efficient and cost‑effective path. Many people find their pain or movement issues improve with PT alone. And if your therapist notices something that needs imaging or a physician’s evaluation, they’ll guide you to the right provider.

The best part?

  • Lower overall cost for you
  • Faster access to care
  • Low‑risk, high‑reward treatment
  • Quicker approvals if additional care is needed, since your therapist’s findings help streamline the process

Physical therapy can be a smart first step toward feeling better—simple, safe, and often all you need.

If you’ve been suffering from a simple musculoskeletal injury or problem, don’t wait any longer! Call now to set up an evaluation with one of our experts in orthopaedics, sports or dance medicine!

Did you know you can choose where you go for physical therapy?

Many people don’t realize they have options. While there are plenty of excellent rehab facilities, they’re not all the same—and choosing the right one can make a big difference in your recovery experience.

It’s worth taking a little time to look around and find a clinic that fits your needs, values, and goals. The right environment, the right therapist, and the right treatment approach can help you feel better faster and stay motivated throughout the process.

Here’s the key thing to remember:
A referral to one physical therapy clinic can be used at any physical therapy clinic.

You are always in control of where you go for care.

Choosing a place that feels like the best match for you can make all the difference in how smoothly and successfully you return to full strength.
