ACL Prevention

ACL injuries are a major issue in youth, collegiate, and professional sports and the incidence of ACL injuries per year is estimated to be over 300,000 in the US alone or about 1 in every 100 athletes. Female athletes, in particular, are 2-10x more likely to suffer a non-contact ACL injury that is the result of improper mechanics while cutting (changing direction), decelerating, or landing from a jump or hop. Often, an ACL injury results in surgery and an extensive rehab process that may last as long as 12-18 months, significantly reducing sports participation time. The good news is both of our locations have certified therapists in ACL prevention via the SportsMetrics program created by Cincinnati Sports Medicine. This is one of only two programs that have been proven in research to not only reduce the incidence of ACL injuries, but also to improve vertical jump height, VO2 max, and Hamstring/Quad strength ratios, which can all enhance sports performance. We offer a variety of training options that include everything from one-on-one sessions as part of an ACL rehab program, to pre-season group sessions in clinic or on-site.
